Grouper usually refers to two major genera of fish: Grouper and Perch. In addition, fishes of the genera Anyperidon, Humpback, Lepidopterus, Lepidopterus, Lepidopterus, and Elephant are also called groupers, while fish of the genus Acanthus are called groupers. Coral grouper fish. However, some species of Mandarinus, Ninecanthus, Pleurodontidae, Ceratophorus, Oriental Perch, and Paraflora belong to the grouper subfamily, as well as individual other fishes of the family Asteridae. Sometimes it is also called grouper.

Groupers belong to the class of ray-finned fishes, with thick bodies and large mouths, and are not suitable for swimming quickly over long distances. Groupers are quite large, reaching more than one meter in length and weighing more than 100 kilograms. However, there are many types of groupers, and their sizes vary. They will swallow their prey instead of tearing it apart piece by piece with their mouths; this is because their jaws do not have many teeth, but the dental plates in their pharynx can crush food. They are used to waiting for fish, octopus, crabs, lobsters and other prey to approach instead of chasing prey in the vast water.

Since many types of grouper are important food fish, fish dealers now breed a lot of grouper; and in deep-sea fishing activities, grouper is a very popular fish. Some smaller grouper species are kept in aquariums, but they actually grow very quickly.

A fish called the saddle-banded grouper can grow to a very large size, and there have been reports that the saddle-banded grouper is large enough to swallow swimmers or scuba divers: when the British writer Arthur C. Clark visited Sri Lanka While diving off the coast, a twenty-foot-long and four-foot-thick grouper was discovered living on a sunken floating platform. A scuba diving magazine in the 1970s documented an incident in which a diver was completely swallowed by a giant grouper while diving in California. The fish tried to crush the diver with its pharyngeal tooth plate, but luckily it was only able to crush the diver. oxygen tank and then expelled the diver. To swallow a scuba diver using an open breathing system, a grouper's throat would have to open to at least two square feet (about 0.2 square meters); saddleback groupers don't usually grow that large because if they were to To avoid shark attacks, it must have a large enough shelter; but this may change as long-line fishing in the distant ocean reduces shark numbers. (Recent reports suggest that hunting sharks has boosted grouper populations, thereby reducing parrotfish populations and causing excessive algae growth in coral reefs.)

The sharp decline in grouper numbers will affect the ecosystem. Groupers like to dig into stone crevices and remove the accumulated sand and gravel, making these crevices a good habitat for other creatures. If there are not enough groupers, the supply of these "residences" will be insufficient. On the other hand, as omnivores, groupers will hunt other smaller fish, crustaceans such as crabs and lobsters, and molluscs such as octopus, which are the main food of groupers. Groupers balance these animal populations[1].
